My name is Beth, and I’m a grammar-holic. (And handler of Hando.)
After flirting with the idea of being an actress or veterinarian, I found my true calling in writing. Evidence: In elementary school, I published a neighborhood newspaper. In middle school, I wrote R-rated soap operas starring my friends. In high school, I wrote newsletters for the Latin club. In college, I got kicked out of a lecture for writing notes that were really stories about the lecturer.
After a lengthy career in broadcast/print journalism and public relations, I’m now a college writing professor. I’m pretty freakin’ happy.
Hello my old friend,
Not to long ago I began the quest to reconnect with people who over the years have touched my life. You were certainly on the top of the list.
I have shared stories with my young ones about my “cool single” friend with the flare for fashion, who ran off to be a star on TV.
About a month ago I ran across your blog and began to catch up on your grown up life. Maybe a little voyeuristic? Still you have given me the giggles.
I have talked until I am blue in the face about emailing you, sending you my blog link and just reconnecting. How different is our life from the two girls who worked in a pet shop together? Might I say that life has been kind to both of us!
BUT I HATE PUNCTUATION!!!! No way in hades was I sending my link to have you see how I truly hate to think about commas, paragraphs and the dreaded semi-colon!
Sad, huh? So today my BFF said, OMG just send the dang thing.
Guess you know the ending?

Shannon! Where have you BEEN?? When I was looking through my journals to get dates for the blog, you were all over the ones from ’91 and ’92 then nothing. How could we not have kept in touch? How did you find my blog? Are you on Facebook? Details, Woman! I want details!

91 or 92? Oh sheesh are we old. Nick is now 21, so I guess I am kinda old.
LOL….I have no idea how we lost touch. I like to think of that time in my life as “wandering along bumpy roads hitting potholes”. Thank goodness for street signs or I would have never found my destination.
I am wonderful! 6 kids, a house filled with love laughter and animal hair. I work for the school district as a school nurse, after years in the ER and a short stint in mental health (yup finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up). Met my prince in 2001 and finally agreed to make him an honest man in 2008.
I knew that you had left Taccoa and thought maybe I remembered SCAD, so I did what every red blooded woman does. I googled you :).
Yes I am on facebook, I am going to look for you right now.
Now your turn I want details too!
Also if you have an extra hour or ten, here is my blog address.
