COVID, Day 7 (Maybe? Could be Day 4 depending on when I displayed symptoms from ‘Rona and not the booster.)
Captain’s Log
I’m feeling fine, but still testing positive.

I’ve managed not to drink away my sorrows every day, but isolation is difficult for an extrovert.
I’m not an indoor cat.
And even my indoor cat has gone loopy.

I’m SO BORED.
I’m sick of TV. I’m tired of social media. I’ve had enough of lonely walks around the neighborhood.
I’ve even cleaned out the freezer.
That’s how bad it is.
But I’ve eaten well. That’s positive. Haven’t lost taste or smell.
I’ve been FaceTiming people because I need human contact. (Petra knows. She got a surprise.)
Maybe tomorrow I’ll test negative, and I can rejoin society. Carefully, of course.
The good news is that I don’t appear to have infected anyone else.
Small victories.
Sigh.
That’s not a small victory. Not infecting anyone is a major victory. I’m glad it’s almost over for you.
I truly did not understand extroverts until I saw the REAL suffering my extrovert friends were experiencing in 2020. For me it was kind of “Yay! I’m absolved!” I’m friendly, fun to be around, and I like people, but hanging out with friends — even those to whom I’m close — can be exhausting. Seeing my extrovert friends actually suffering in 2020 was an eye-opener for me.

It’s HARD. I do like my own space, time to be alone. But I’m also very social. I feel like I’m withering.
I’m so relieved that no one I came in contact with has got it. I keep checking in, but so far so good. That was the worst thing about this: that I might have infected others.

My Dearest Dr. Beth,
Because I’m a social media hermit, I’m just now getting caught up on your adventures. I hope you have been able to rejoin society, but in case you are still confined, I am here to regale you with tales of raising a teenage daughter, fostering pandemic puppies, and being known as the lady in the neighborhood who brings food and flowers, but always seems to spill them in Clousseau-like mishaps. I hope you’re on the mend, and by the way…I would like Leo please. ♥️
Love you and can’t wait to talk soon,
Sherlock Simpson

Sherlock! Tell me your tales — here or in person. You can come visit, hang out with Leo, but you must leave him with me. 🙂

I promise to visit (and not catnap Leo). I’ve never been to MO and you’re only 4 hours from Memphis…a stone’s throw from my hillbilly relatives. I want to share photos, but I don’t know how to email you directly because I’m dumb. Can you please advise? I do hope you’re testing negative and able to rejoin your tribe soon. Healthy good wishes!
